Breakdown of admission fees – Guided discovery tour of the reserve :

The FAMILY Day :
Meeting at 3pm for a 1 hour visit of the nature reserve
Meet at 5pm for a self-guided treasure hunt on the Sablières trail, to discover Linné (1h30)
Lunch break at the discretion of the families and at their expense (La renverse at Saint-Froult, Brouage, oyster tasting at Montportail or Port-des-Barques, picnic)
Meeting point at 8.30 pm for a “sunset” walk – ending at 10 pm
Price: 17€/ad, 12€ for 6-22 years old, free for -6 years old; 15 pers max.

The Relaxation Day :
RDV 11am for a walk on the beach, barefoot, 1h
Break – participants take the opportunity to visit nearby sites (Brouage, Port-des-Barques, Saint-Froult) and taste local products.
Meeting point at 5pm for a 1h30 visit of the nature reserve, to feel nature, to sublimate the moment with short readings.
Lunch break at the discretion of the families and at their expense (La renverse in Saint-Froult, Brouage, oyster tasting in Montportail or Port-des-Barques, picnic)
Meeting point at 8.30 pm for a sensory walk – end at 10 pm.

Discovery and emotion (continental side)

“In the heart of the nature reserve” visit, into the heart of the salt marshes, bring the family and discover the biodiversity: Adults 8 €, Concessions 5€ – 3 hours

“‘The nature reserve” visit, to discover the nature reserve, birds and migration, a combination of understanding scientific research (bird ringing) and appreciating the poetry of wild birds : Adults 6 €, Concessions 5€ – 1 hour

The birds of the nature reserve on the Oleron side, observation point for coastal shorebirds, presentation of the nature reserve and its habitats, in a posted reception. 4 possible meeting places:

Fun discoveries

“Wanted Linné” or “L’envol de Marceline”, discovery in autonomy by a track game with two emblematic species to choose from; kit for hire by families and leisure centres. Last departure 1 hour before the closing of the Visitor Centre. 1h, kit rental 10€ at the reception area, 6 pers.

The “family challenge”, a “Who is it?” adapted as an outdoor game and supervised by a facilitator to play as a family and discover the birds of the nature reserve and learn more about their way of life. Observe, describe and reveal the name of the bird. 45 minutes /session, 8€/family (6pers.max). 2 to 3 families at the same time or group of children. On request. The unpublished, some dates in the year
“L’Île Madame à deux voix”, guides from the LPO and the Port-des-Barques ecomuseum will take you on a journey of discovery between nature and culture on the “Île Madame” peninsula. 3 dates (18 June, 17 September and 30 October). 4 km, 2h30 to 3h, 12€/pers. 5€/reduced from 6 years old and single price 5€ for the European Heritage Days. 35 people max. “La balade vél’ornitho”, departure from the reception area to the Tannes path, about 6 km, come with bike and helmet. Free in May. 6 km, 1h30, 8€/pers. 5€/reduced. 20 people.

Nature Centre opening hours– 2022

Outside of the times given below, please contact us.  During the activities, the reception area may be closed to the general public. Health and Safety is a priority with us.  Thank you for your understanding. 

  • July and August 2021 open every day, weekends and holidays included from 2.30pm till 6.pm.
  • From 1 st September to 7 st November 2021: open from 2.30pm till 5.pm every day (except Saturdays).

Opening times for Footpaths

Sentier des Tannes footpath: open all year round from 7.00 am till 8.00 pm (bicycles and dogs on leads welcomed)

Sentier des Sablières footpath: open all year round from 7.00 am till 8.00 pm (pedestrians only – no dogs allowed)

Sentier des Lais de mer footpath: open all year round from 7.00 am till 8.00 pm (pedestrians only – no dogs permitted)

Sentier des Polders footpath: from 1st September to 31st January from 12.00 noon till 7.00pm and from 1st February to 31st August, from 7.00 am till 8.00 pm (pedestrians only – no dogs permitted).

Sentier de la Citadelle à la pointe des doux footpath: Open all year round(pedestrians only – no dogs allowed).
